Day One:
Fly direct to Luxor. Transfer to the hotel of your choice for a stay of three nights.
Days 2-3 Luxor:
Originally built on the site of ancient Thebes, Luxor is unique for its spectacular archaeological relics. There is an opportunity to explore its fascinating sights and the surrounding area with a wide range of optional excursions to book. Why not try a visit to the Temple of Karnak – an enormous complex of three temples dedicated to the Theban Gods or explore the magnificent Temple of Luxor which was once connected to the Karnak Temple by an avenue of sphinxes. Visit the Valley of the Kings – the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Valley of the Queens. Alternatively, take a felucca trip down the Nile or a stroll through the colourful streets of Luxor; in the evening take an excursion to the Sound and Light show at the Karnak Temple.
Day 4
Aswan - Kalabsha Temple: After breakfast transfer by road (approx 3 hours) to Aswan and embark on to your Lake Nasser cruise ship for a stay of 4 nights. Visit to Kalabsha temple with its Pharonic aspect, remodelled into Greco-Roman style and dedicated to the God Mandoulis. Visit the hemi-speos of Beit El Wali, erected to Ramses II at the beginning of this reign. Also visit the kiosk of Kertassi, erected in honour of goddess Isis. Stay overnight in Aswan.
Day 5:
Wadi El Seboua: Sail to Wadi El Sebou, known as the Valley of the Lion for its impressive avenue of sphinxes. Enjoy a cocktail on board while passing the Tropic of Cancer. Lunch, dinner and overnight on board.
Day 6:
Amada, Derr & Penout: Early morning visit to Wadi El Seboua temple dedicated by Ramses II to the two gods Amon Ra and Ra Harmakis. The temple of Dakka, dedicated to Thot, god of divine wisdom, lord of times and science and master of literature. Visit the Greco-Roman temple of Meharakka. Lunch on baord while sailing to Amada. Visit the temples of Amada from the XVIIIth dynasty, built during the reign of Thotmosis III, Amenophis III and Thotmosis IV. Also visit the hemi-speos of Derr dedicated by Ramses II to the rising sun as well as the tomb of Penout, viceroy of Nubia. Dinner and overnight onbaord at Amada
Day 7:
Kasr Ibrim & Abu Simbel: Sail to Kasr Ibrim. View the citadel of Kasr Ibrim. (This is conducted from the ship's sundeck as entrance to the site is not permitted). After lunch sail to Abu Simbel and visit the temples of Pharoah Ramses II and his beloved wife Nefertari. In the evening there is an opportunity to experience a Sound & Light show in front of the temples at Abu Simbel. (optional excursion, ticket not included).
Day 8:
Return to the UK: For those who wish there is the opportunity of a second visit to the Abu Simbel temples to watch the sunrise (entrance ticket is not included) before taking the road transfer back to Luxor airport for the return flight to the UK.
