Nile Cruise and Twitter

Nile Cruises and TwitterOver the last few days I’ve been hearing a lot about using Twitter.  It seems that there is a mixed view on Radio Five, the BBC and other media organisations on the “worth” of Twitter.

Some people within these organisations and in the press are saying that to “Twitter” regularly is a complete waste of time whilst others are singing the praises of being one of those who do use the Twitter platform.

If you are unfamiliar with “Twitter” then let me explain that Twitter is very much like a mini-blogging system.  You open a Twitter account and can then “post” short “Tweets” of up to 140 characters which will appear in your Twitter account/page.  Other people can then elect to “follow” your Tweets if they are interested in either you or what your are “Twittering” about.  (Hope that makes a little sense at least!!).

We’ve been “Twittering” here at Nile Cruises 4u for some time now and we use it to “announce” various things about Nile Cruising, such as special offers, new ships, etc, etc.  Currently there are about 70 people who are “following” us, although that changes almost daily.

However, I find Twitter really useful for “following” people who are of interest to me on the Web.  People who are experts or specialists in the various things I’m interested in.  That way I find lots of things that either benefit the way I do business on the web or discover news ways of using technology, etc, that I wouldnt’ have come across.  I’m currently “following” about 16 other people.

I would highly recommend exploring “Twitter” and searching for some topics that are of interest.  I’m sure you’ll find it a fascinating and rewarding experience.  If you’d like to know more about how I use Twitter please leave a comment and I’ll get back to you.
