Over the weekend I read the announcement that the are a series of new museums that have either just opened or are due to open shortly.
The Museum of Crocodiles , which displays mummified crocodiles and statues of the crocodile god “Sobek”, is near to the Temple of Kom Ombo in Aswan.
Another new museum is The Suez National Museum which houses 2,500 archaeological artefacts that tell the story of the history of Suez.
In 2015 The Grand Egyptian Museum, which overlooks the Pyramids at Giza, is due to open.
Last night I watched a fascinating documentary about Egypt and it showed the various displays and artefacts housed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and I have to say the portraits that were taken from the various tombs are really wonderful to look at and you get a real feel of what the ancient Egyptian people looked like. It really brings things to life and I’m really looking forward to my next visit to Cairo.
