If you are hoping to visit Egypt in the near future I highly recommend you watch episode 3 of The Frankincense Trail.
Last night (10 September) I watched a wonderful BBC programme called The Frankincense Trail featuring the lovely Kate Humble. Last nights episode was set in Egypt as Kate sailed the Nile from Aswan and visited so many of the places you would see on a Nile Cruise.
What struck me, apart from the wonderful manner of Kate Humble, was the great sense of how distinctive the light is. I experienced that the first time I visited Egypt and if you havent’ been yet I think it’ something that you too will notice. Plus, of course, the wonderful scenery that was the background of Kate’s programme.
It brought it back to me what a fabulous destination Egypt is and what a unique experience a Nile Cruise offers. Kate also gets inside the Pyramid at Giza and I think you will be fascinated by that section alone. She also sails down the Nile on a traditional felucca which I would love to do. The other thing I think that comes across is the warmth of the Egyptian people and how proud they are of their unique heritage.
If you missed last night’s programme you can take advantage of BBC’s iPlayer to watch the episode online now. I really recommend watching it as I am sure it will only deepen your wish to visit Egypt.
You can find the episode here.
