Sorry not to have contacted you sooner but we have had a lot to catch up with since arriving home late Monday night.

The holiday was excellent, starting with the service from yourself.  Everything you told us was accurate.  I would recommend the ship to anyone.

The cabin was spacious and comfortable.  The crew were helpful and friendly and the food was very good.  Attention to hygene was thorough and we did not suffer from any stomach complaints.

The tours were excellent.  We have seen pictures of the various sites but to see them in real life is something else!  The guides were knowledgable and helpful.  It was also great to relax on the deck in the warm sunshine and watch the banks of the Nile.

The whole holiday was very well organised and we didnt’ have to worry about a thing.  The only thing that could be improved was larger seats on the Monarch flight.

Barbara relaxes on the sun deck of the Royal Viking

We’ve been back over a week now from our Nile Cruise and Cairo trip and we haven’t’ had a moment to start to organise the terrific amount of video, photos and sound files that we amassed whilst in Egypt.

We have got so much that we want to add to both the main Nile Cruises 4u website as well as here on the blog.

We have video and photographs on board the Royal Viking and the Viking Princess which we are just working through at the moment as well as tons of content we produced in Cairo.

As soon as we have a moment we’ll be getting it organised and catalogued but in the meantime here’s a photograph of a very relaxed Barbara enjoying the sun and scenery on the sundeck of the lovely Royal Viking Nile cruise ship.

Such a knowledgable man who is experienced in all aspects of travel to and within Egypt. So generous with his time, advice and hospitality.

He explained to us the extensive health & safety measures they have throughout both ships to ensure the very highest standards of hygene and safety.

He then arranged for his director of health, safety and hygene to show us around the kitchens and to show us personally how they take every precaution to ensure they meet and exceed the highest international standards. Both Barbara and I were really impressed by the proactive measures that are undertaken.

There are so many “small but vital” measures that they undertake that I would never have thought but those small measures add up to a comprehensive set of measures that ensure the comfort and welfare of their clients.

I can’t fault either the Viking Princess or the Royal Viking for their scrupulous attention to detail.

Tomorrow Barbara and I sadly leave the Royal Viking to fly up to Cairo and we will both be very sad to leave this lovely ship and her friendly and professional staff.

Our cabin, 301, is at the front of the ship (the pointy bit) and is really lovely.

I am really hungry now and we are just getting ready for dinner and then hopefully axrelaxing drink in the bar.

Tomorrow we have an early start as we are off the The Valley Of The Kings and I’ll be videoing as much as I can.

Often, as with all travel and holiday prices, people look for what they call “the cheapest” price.  Sadly, I think with a product like a Nile Cruise, they are missing the point.  I think they should be looking for the “best value”.

Of course budget dictates so much but if you are going to fly for 5 hours to Egypt and then spend a week on a Nile Cruise ship enjoying the wonders of Ancient Egypt, wouldnt’ you want that ship to be the best you can afford, not the cheapest available.

Sure you might save £40 or £50 per person but I’m certain that when that other ship passes by, the one that was £50 more but looks fabulous and its’ passengers look happily down from their sunbeds, those who have booked purely on price, often look up and think “I wish I had paid that little bit extra and was onboard that one”.

The Royal Viking is one of those ships where you might pay a little bit more but I believe that it would be well worth the price.

I really cant’ recommend the Royal Viking enough as it truly is a great Nile Cruise ship.

Excellent quality, friendly staff and good food at prices from £599 instead of £850 cant’ be beaten.

The prices are the same from Manchester.

If your already looking at 5 star ships that are around the £599 to £700 price range then you must seriously consider the Royal Viking.  You wont’ be disappointed.

The offer which gives an average of up to £200 per person off the normal price is for departures in June and early July and as the ship is such a lovely vessel the take up on the offer has been exceptional.

There are few cabins left on certain dates so if you are planning to take a Nile Cruise in the future I can honestly say that the Royal Viking is one of the best ships you can do it on and at the prices available it’s too good to miss.

Obviously its’ a bit cooler in November and December but if you can take advantage of travelling over the next month or two you will be saving an awful lot of money in comparison.

Having cruise the Nile myself I can honestly say that the lead in price of £599 for a 7 night luxury Nile cruise with full excursion programme on such a prestigious ship is fantastic value.

You can book cheaper ships, (not a lot cheaper than £599 by the way!!) but there is an enormous difference in accommodation between the Royal Viking and some of the cheaper vessels.

I know, having cruised, that as you stand on the sundeck of your chosen ship, that you will see a lot of other Nile cruise ships sail by.  You wont’ see that many as good as the Royal Viking, especially at just £599 (on certain departure dates).

If you are thinking of taking advantage of this great offer please dont’ leave it as you will only be disappointed to find the offer is fully booked.

We’ve just posted a new Nile Cruise Testimonial from clients who’ve just returned from sailing on the Royal Viking.

Here’s their report:

Dear Barbara,

Having just returned from the 1 week Nile Cruise and visit to Cairo I must tell you how much we enjoyed the whole experience.

The organisation of transfers, welcome meetings, visits to temples, flights to Cairo and return were all managed with skill, humour and care.

We stayed on Royal Viking and were most impressed with the standard of food, cleanliness and the skilled crew on the boat. Never having done anything quite like this before, (our holidays had just involved the two of us) we were somewhat anxious about being in a group with organised activities. However we soon changed our mind and were so pleased to have had such knowledgeable guides when visiting these most amazing temples and tombs. Without them we would not have found out so much about the Ancient Egyptians.

It was certainly an action packed 4 days whilst on the cruise. This was necessary to fit all the visits into such a short space of time. The times we were on board during sailing times were spent watching the Nile drift slowly past. From the comfort of the sun deck life was peaceful . Once docked and surrounded by the many other boats we still found it a fascinating experience and part of the whole.

There were optional extra tours but we didn’t do any as we preferred a little more free time on our own. This gave us the chance to wander the market streets in Aswan, something I can highly recommend. The mint tea at a little cafe was wonderful. Shopkeepers, when treated with a little humour, were great fun to haggle with over the price of spices, teas and jewellery.

The four days went by in a flash and soon it was time for the flight to Cairo. It was great being Business class even for such a short trip so thank you for that little extra touch.

We were met and transfered via the Sphinx Sound and Light show. For such a world famous venue we, and others, were very disappointed with the amateurish display which fell way behind other internationally renowned performances we have seen. The only complaint of the holiday.
We were then taken on to our hotel, The Pyramids Park. This was a large resort hotel which, although a contrast to the peace and tranquility of the boat was nevertheless a great place to spend the few days in Cairo.

Cairo was hectic. We decided to take the 2 tours that were on offer. One day was spent out at the Pyramids and the other in the Cairo Museum, mosques and churches. This gave us a brief glimpse into Cairo life and made us think we would like to return with more time to just wander and breathe in the atmosphere.

Many thanks for your personal touch in advising us when making the booking and for the little card waiting for us on our return. Little things make all the difference.
