Archive for the Wildlife Holidays in Egypt Category

When you book a Nile Cruise you tend to think of the various fascinating excursions you’ll enjoy to magical places like The Valley Of The Kings, Karnak Temple, the Unfinished Obelisk, etc.  But what so many people dont’ realise is that you will have opportunities to see wonderful wildlife when your there.

Egypt is important as a place where familiar European birds rub shoulders with exotic African species and offers some of the most exciting birdwatching anywhere in the world and is an increasingly popular destination for birdwatchers.

One of our recent clients sent me a whole CD-ROM of great photographs he’d taken of the wildlife he’d seen when cruising.

If your interested you can get various books to take with you including the one featured here, “Birds Of Egypt” which only costs £5.99 from Amazon.co.uk.

I ‘m not a birdwatcher normally but when I travel I love to see as much of the wildlife as possible.  When I travelled to Kenya last year I brought back reel after reel of video footage.  But equally when I travelled to the north of Holland a few years ago I took a “bird-watching” excursion out of curiosity and had a brilliant time and, again, took loads of great pictures.

Anyway, I just thought I’d let you know that you will have some opportunities to enjoy sights of wildlife and birdlife that you wont’ be able to see anywhere else.

Wildlife holidays in EgyptAs well as arranging Nile Cruises and Nile Cruise and Stay holidays, (Nile cruise and a further stay in Cairo, Luxor or the Red Sea) we can also arrange some wonderful Wildlife Holidays to Egypt.

Having cruised the Nile I can vouch for the wonderful array of bird life and wildlife that you will see. If you would like to enjoy a dedicated wildlife holiday in Egypt then here is an example of what we can arrange for you…

This 11 day wildlife tour to Egypt combines the major sites of both archaeological and ornithological interest. Visiting the Sinia Desert, the River Nile, Luxor, the Pyramids and Sphinx we search for a combination of special Western Palearctic and African birds.

A phenomenal six thousand years of recorded history, and a prime position on the avian migration route between Africa and Europe, combine to make Egypt one of the most exciting destinations for birdwatchers with an appreciation of the past. Nurtured by the life-giving waters of the river, one of the greatest civilisations ever to inhabit the earth developed along the Nile Valley leaving, as monuments to their existence, countless temples, pyramids and artefacts which today are numbered among the greatest historical sites in the world. Three continents exert their respective influences on a remarkably diverse avifauna, which is enriched and enhanced by the seasonal movements of migrants using the country as a staging post for longer journeys. By late October, newly arrived winter visitors may be observed alongside the resident ‘specialities’ and with cooler weather conditions, this is an excellent time for birdwatching. As you travel in the Sinai Desert and along the River Nile you will be visiting many of the best birding localities in Egypt but this is a tour which also pays homage to world famous antiquities including the Pyramids, Abu Simbel, Aswan and Luxor.
